There are a few roast-duck-specific places in Shanghai, such as ‘Duck Prince’ and more, but Xindalu at the Hyatt on the Bund arguably has the ‘best’.
This may be due to their peachwood smoked ovens, that they have their own duck farm and/or that they are one of the few 5 star hotels which strongly specialise in roasted duck.
The other dishes on their menu – plenty of live seafood as well as a selection of other Chinese classics of all types – are all good, but a visit to Xindalu is really about the duck.
The prices are also reasonable for what you are getting. A whole duck is around 288 RMB. (and probably serves four or so)
